Global connectivity
The above advertisement put up in TJ is of a book from the well known series Harry Potter by England-born author, J. K. Rowling. The book, first published in England, is now a best seller in many parts of the world and in numerous languages, due to globalization. For example, in Chinese the book ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire’ could be read as 哈利波特与火焰杯. Thus, culture is not confined by a country’s boundaries. Economical advancements have also allowed us to pre order the book even before it is even released. People can simply place an order and they’ll have the book delivered to their doorstep as soon as the book is released. In conclusion, globalization of a particular culture or trend can affects people all over the world.

Vehicles are one factor that contributes to globalisation around the world and can be easily found in TJC. Vehicles make traveling easier, be it in the form of land, air or sea transport. They shorten traveling times and make areas more accessible to people far off.
Airplanes are a very good example. They connect the world and can also be said to make the world seem smaller through their amazing flying times. Vehicles increase the connectivity between countries for centuries. From the start where trading ships were created, till now where many modern vehicles like airplanes, cars and cruise ships exist. Vehicles such as cars can be found in many different countries around the world. It has become a norm to see roads and paths through country or city and also to see vehicles traveling along them. This is typical of globalisation where everyday life is becoming more standardised and characteristic of many countries in the world.

Vending machines brought about convenience for consumers, like famous brands, the vending machine had invaded cities after cities. Sprawling across the cities, vending machines have become part of city-dwellers’ lives. Globalization has caused countries to exert influences on others, inventions and ideas were brought across continents, shaping the modern world. The vending machine is one of them. These dispensers of products that vary in size shape and purpose have been the result of progressive globalization which alters consumers’ habits as well. Nowadays, people have been rather dependent on fast foods and dispensed can drinks with the invention of these products that make eating convenient. This has been changed due to the spread of ideas and subsequently the fast-food culture. These inventions may have originated from Japan, from the US or Singapore, but it will serve the modern world.

The Dustbin, a universal symbol which every person in the world understands. Dustbins can be seen in every country big or small. It is common to see a trash can round a corner or beside a wall along a path or sidewalk. It is general knowledge that these large cans act as garbage disposal containers and whenever someone wants to throw away something, it goes into one of these cans. Such knowledge is spread through the introduction of garbage cans around the world and this has to be started from one particular country. The trash can was invented in Paris by Monsieur Poubelle, a Parisian. This idea spread rapidly throughout the world and is now a commonplace item both publicly and domestically. The trash can contributes to globalisation as it helps to standardise life all over the world and is found all over the world.

The camera although small, represents globalisation as this item is being standardized throughout the world. Even most children know what a camera is and how to use it. A camera also allows people to communicate and connect with each other throughout all parts of the world This also shows that a camera which represents globalisation makes the world a smaller place as now even people that never traveled out of their own country could see the scenery of other countries by pictures taken from cameras. For example, if you are on a holiday in a foreign country, all it takes is a camera to take some pictures of the life there and your friends at home could see the pictures and in a way see different parts of a world. People from different professions also use the camera, whether it is a reporter for a newspaper or a student doing a project, cameras would be use to take pictures for their work. In conclusion, we know more about the world and the past through pictures taken from cameras.
